Temperature 375 degrees F
Cooking time 50-60 minutes

2    cups starter
4    cups white flour sifted
2    teaspoons sugar
1    teaspoon pink salt
2    tablespoons fat - I use olive oil
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1.    Sift dry ingredients into bowl, except for the baking soda, make a well in the center.

2.    Add the fat to the starter and mix thoroughly.

3.    Pour into the well in the flour.  If necessary, add additional flour to make soft dough that will knead easily.

4.    Knead on floured board for 15 minutes or knead 100 times.

5.    Place the dough in a greased bowl and turn to all of it.

6.    Cover it with a towel in a warm place until it doubles in size.  2 to 4 hours.

7.    Dissolve the baking soda in one tablespoon of warm water.  Add the mixture and knead it well.

8.   Shape the dough into approximately 24” X  1” loaves.  Twist two loaves together in snail like circle.  

9.   Put the dough in a buttered dutch oven until it has doubled in size.  Score the dough with a sharp knife in a few different places. ( I didn’t score mine this time because it was cold and my dough didn’t rise as well as it would have if it was warmer.)

10. Bake in the oven for 50-60 minutes.

Yes, It does look good.  Just the photo looks good enough to eat!  Smile
